I need a dvi lead that can drive the output of a R9 290 Vapor-X into a Benq XL2411Z with minimal loss.

I bought both these components from overclockers a couple of weeks ago and im getting bad flickering. I think its the gpu that is faulty because the monitor works fine when I drop in my gtx470. iv formatted, updated bios and fresh installed all drivers to try and fix it and im still getting flicker. A new cable is the last thing im trying before i RMA the card.

Im not going to pay £50 for a lead incase its not even the problem but il pay around half that at the most.

I dont know much about the specs of leads but iv seen people talking about "oxygen free" to help minimize loss or something. Will this help?

thanks guys

I always thought cables didn't matter, quality vs cheap = same digital signal and same picture?

EDIT: the gtx not flickering proves it

im thinking the 470 might not be outputting as much as 290 (for whatever reason i dont know) and thats why it doesnt show because the lead can handle the 470. Im just guessing this, its the last thing im trying before i rma card. I want to be able to say i tryed to fix it.

I don't know either

if the monitor is 144hz it doesn't matter what gpu you use I would have thought? it still should display at 144hz

tried setting up the monitor in ccc?

whats ccc? lol

its weird that a fair amount of the flickering comes when i move the mouse or scroll using middle mouse button. Would a mouse be able to cause any interference lol? this mouse is like 8 years old. Never parted with it love the microsoft intelli.

that's usually emi leakage from gpu/psu/mb

ccc is catalyst control centre (amd software)

cleaned the gold contacts on the gpu? that slot into your mb and checked all your cables are fully seated

does it flicker when mouse is unplugged?

i found this as a responce on the net trying to look for people with the same problem.

"Mine's fixed now. It was being caused by memory clock frequency changes in the primarydisplay adaptor. I used the Radeon BIOS Editor to set the memory clock at a fixed frequency - no more flicker!"

Is this a possible fix? how would i go about checking to see if my memory clock frequency is changing.

the memory clock sits at 150mhz when im on desktop.

the memory clock is spiking like this and im only browsing net on google chrome.

150 1400 150 150 1400 1400 150 and so on.

no other inbetween number just from lowest to highest 150 to 1400

this normal?

Incase the dvi-d cable that came with the monitor was faulty i tryed a dvi-d to hdmi cable instead. Flickering turned to coloured flicker and i got a desktop lockup and blackscreen within 10/15min of this cable being in, I had to hard restart to fix.

Im going to RMA the card and put it down to being unlucky. I like this card and want it to work so im going to ask for a replacement and try again.
