Need help trouble shooting my eGPU upgrade

I recently built a miniitx PC using the following

Ryzen 7 7700 CPU, integrated graphics
A620i Gigabyte Motherboard
1TB NvME HDD, 32GB crucial RAM
200w PicoPSU
Windows 11 Pro

All good so far - I then thought about an eGPU upgrade - I have a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 card and tried using it along with

PCIE external Oculink port PCIE 4.0 x4 card in the motherboard PCIE x16 slot
DEG1 eGPU Docking station
350W Bequiet PSU

Try as I may I cant get this to work - the screen freezes, windows restarts, cant run benchmarking

Have tried the graphics card directly in the motherboard in the pciex16 slot outside the case and everything works and benchmarks look ok

Cant get the oculink working - have tried alternate oculink card, cable and even docking card - any idea if any bios settings need changing ?

Any help trouble shooting appreciated ..

Thanks
J

Thanks.. had tried changing from auto to pcie4 .. that didn’t work.. will try pcie 3 .. do you think that could be because these cards are all incapable of pcie 4 ?.. had two different ones claiming pcie4 (Chinese imports) that haven’t worked well at those settings ..

I'd never heard of an Oculink port until your thread, but I can say that this is a common problem with risers where they don't support the speeds they're supposed to.

Try changing the pcie expresses from 4 to 3 or vice versa in the bios and maybe update the bios on the motherboard also
Thanks .. updating bios didn’t work. But setting it to pcie 3 worked .. don’t know if it’s the mobo or oculink chain that is the problem .. definitely a downgrade on performance .. has taken about 25% off

Your welcome.

At least you can game but maybe another card mite more comparable with the motherboard but I probably would leave it for a while.

Enjoy

PCIE3 with 4 lanes is a bit of a bottleneck for modern cards unfortunately. Is that a synthetic loss (e.g. 3D Mark), or real games FPS?
3d mark .. at least the benchmarking worked !! Thanks to all who contributed with comments and suggestions !!
