Need help troubleshooting my first gaming rig

Hi there,

I've just finished building my first ever gaming rig and was very pleased with it, until I turned it on......

When I turn on the power, the fans, LED's and motherboard all light up but shut off after a few seconds, only to reboot and stay on. The red LED on the motherboard marked CPU is also lit, indicating there is an error.

This is my set-up:

Case: Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred V3 case
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 ** B3 REVISION **
CPU: Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz LGA1155
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX 580 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
SSD: Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gbs
PSU: Antec High Current Pro 850W
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S222ABRSMS 22x DVD±RW

Anyone out there that can help?

a) reset bios. (Remove CMOS battery)
b) reseat everything. (RAM,CPU+GPU) Also try 1 dimm of ram.
c) remove from case put on m/b box test out side of case.

Did you fit the 8 pin power connector near the CPU?

I didn't actually, I used the 24 pin connector. Should I use the 8 pin connection instead?

I see now one is about so may I chip in.

Check your motherboard manual - I suspect that with a CPU of that magnitude has a dedicated power supply connector there, from your PSU.

U still need the big long one too.The 8 pin and the 24 pin.

You need to connect both.
