Hi guys, it's been a while since I have posted in a forum but I need some help.

Basically I had my PC custom built a few years ago and it's showing its age a little bit now. Unfortunately I don't fully trust myself to find the right parts for my motherboard. It's an ABIT IP35-e. Ideally I'd like to upgrade my CPU and graphics card. Here's what I'm running.

Motherboard: Abit IP35-e
CPU Intel Pentium E2180 2.00ghz, socket 775LGA
RAM: 4gb DDR2 ram
Graphics: Radeon x1950 series

I hope this helps. I'd like to upgrade the processor and video card to HD to connect to my HD TV, and hopefully it be cost effective since I'm still in DDR2 days!

Many thanks to you who reads

Michael

It's just personal use really, some photo and video editing but not really for games. Watching films in HD too, streaming. I have quite a low refresh and frame rate so want to enjoy things properly on my 1080p tv

Ok, so the Q6600 or E8400, whichever you can find cheaper :)
Doomedspeed said that you should get a 430 or 5450 :)

Sorry I am being a total noob haha what exactly is the 430 and the 5450? Will talk later gotta go to work BAAHH

This is great help guys thank you. Gun to the head you'd pick the GT430? All compatible with my mobo? Also I have a 440w PSU if that makes a difference? Will that affect anything?

I figure that the processor, right now anyway, is too expensive (it's not yet pay day). But My Heatsink fan is currently falling off, I have my tower laying on its side to stop it from coming off. If I stand the tower up normally, the PC powers off after a few minutes. When I lay it down, it's fine. Should I just get a new heat sink fan for now instead?

I'm looking at this for now http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-AR

And maybe I could overclock my current processor?

I went for the GT610 as advised (though you mentioned the link was the GT430, not sure if that makes a difference..?) and the heatsink fan. I hope this was a good move!

To T345 and Doomedspeed, thank you for your help.

I went for the GT610 as advised (though you mentioned the link was the GT430, not sure if that makes a difference..?) and the heatsink fan. I hope this was a good move! The processor was too expensive so I figured a decent fan (The arctic cooler) would suffice to perhaps over clock the CPU a little.
