Need help! vista upgrade (from xp) cant find any drives..

ive just removed 11 trojan horses from my friends comp >< and im trying to do a clean upgrade from xp to vista (a spare disk i have as they no longer have a xp disk) after i put in the vista serial i get up the drive window and it says "no drives were found. click load drive to provide a mass storage driver for installtion" when i click it it asks me to search for drivers.. :/

there computer is a very old packard bell Model number 351 ( i think...) and there main hard drive is in a partion. if you need any more info please just ask thanks!

What type of hard-drive is it - if it's SATA then you need to download the drivers for the SATA card (not drive) or change the mode from ACHI to IDE in the BIOS.

its one of them old ribben cable hard drives lol
