Hope you can help

If your not looking to overclock then this would be ok (if you could extend your budget by £20)
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £161.99

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £114.98

Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 Intel P67 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £104.98

Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £43.99

BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) £36.98

Sub Total : £421.59
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £12.50
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £86.82
Total : £520.91

But if you are looking to overclock you would need a better CPU cooler which will cost another £30-40

Or a bit cheaper AMD option:

Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Far Cry 2 £199.98

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 840 "95W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £89.99

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £49.99

Asus M4A78LT-M 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £49.99

BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) £36.98

Sub Total : £391.60
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £11.75
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £80.67
Total : £484.02

But I imagine someone will come in and give you a better option of mobo and graphics card for this system, but I don't know too much about AMD sytems but heard this is a good gaming set-up so I thought I'd throw it out there :)

For £500 id go for something like this. 955 is a good quad core for playing BC2 and 5850 should be able to handle that res. You could beef up that card too to a 6950 if you want! .....I'm sure I've forgotten something :o

Skippy, cracking build. But he's not overclocking, as you know, so why the K series chip and the P67 chipset? You can easily get that in budget :)

Something like this, for example:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2400 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £154.99
1 x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **OcUK Exclusive** £114.98
1 x Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 Intel P67 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £104.98
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98
1 x OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) £36.98
1 x Coolermaster Elite 370 Case - Black £33.70
Total : £501.22 (includes shipping : £10.50).

+1 for this build, perfect for all your needs and in budget.

Well, I haven't heard too much about the 2400 (as I'm kinda new around here  ) and I just assumed that the 2500k was better at stock, and for £5 more you couldn't go wrong lol

Is that an incorrect assumption?

Well, yes and no.

2400 is the same as the 2300, 2500, and 2500k except with lower clock speeds.

The 2500K has an unlocked multiplier, meaning it can be overclocked (that's what the K represents) and slightly better "onboard" graphics.

2300, 2400, 2500 have the same graphics and all have Turbo-Boost that will clock them to the same level.

In order to overclock you need a P67 chipset, so if one isn't going to be overclocking, and one has no need for Crossfire or SLI then go for a H67 chipset.

If you're not going to be overclocking, but will be using the built in gpu, go for the 2500k, because as mentioned it has a better gpu.

If you're not going to be overclocking but are considering Crossfire/SLI then go for a non-K series chip and a P67.

If you want to overclock, get a K series chip and P67 :)

It is (faster at stock), click but is another £5 over-budget

You need to add in the cost of a heatsink too.

hi thanks for all the replies guys what do you guys think about this:

Yeah it will run BC2, but I highly recommend going for the i5 2500k.

BC2 uses a lot of CPU power aswell as GPU so the extra CPU performance WILL improve the performance of the game.

This build is perfect:

I have the same CPU and PSU and they're great. Plus overclocking is dead easy, literally just change a few numbers in the BIOS and away you go with up to 1Ghz extra juice.

The 5850 graphics card is roughly about the same as a GTX 460 so it'll run BC2 perfectly fine and if you ever want to get more power you can get another 5850 and crossfire.

That build is very similiar to mine and I'm really happy with mine :)

ok i will more than likely go for this setup then will this be able to run crysis 2? looks really good on the trailers :p

I've recently built a budget gaming pc for BFBC2,

Athlon II X3 445, 5850, Corsair 430w psu...

Runs beautifully smooth with everything maxed at 1920x1080.

As has been mentioned BFBC2 is pretty CPU dependent, but even el cheapo £55 Athlon II X3 with a slight overclock to 3.5GHz (with the stock cooler) maxed the game out. I honestly find it just as smooth as gaming on it with my [email protected] and overclocked GTX 470.

As people have mentioned the i5 2500k with a 5850 would be a good if you are happy on spending that much, but on the other hand a true Phenom II X4 probably offers best value for money on a budget.

Can vouch for the Sapphire 5850, nice little card, only 8.5" long and runs nearly silent and very cool!

Stunning info mate.

Is there a desired combo if one would like to overclock but not sli/crossfire?

Yeah I can play Crysis 2 at max settings just fine with my setup (i5 2500k & GTX 460). But I feel like the next generation of games will not perform at maximum settings with my 460 so I'll most likely upgrade to a 6950 or something :p
