ok so, the gf's mothers g4 has a problem and i dont know much about mac's, i boot it up, it gets the loading spinning circle, it sits on that as if its loading up, then it switches itself off, any ideas would be a great help.
Power Management Reset: Battery out, power cable out, push power button for 20 seconds. Reconnect power and battery.
- THEN -
PRAM reset: press the power button, and before it chimes hold ALT+ Apple + P + R together. Keep these pressed until the Mac power cycles and you hear 3 chimes. On the 3rd one let go.
After these, just wait and see what happens. The above resets will help with power distribution and folder permissions etc.. basically anything that could interfere with the Mac loading that isn't corrupt files or hardware.
If this doesn't work.. have you got access to the original install discs? Long shot given the age but worth an ask.
