Need help with a problem

I was playing MoH. The screen froze, went sort of distorted, lots of green and purple squares. The monitor then shut down, I could hear the game still going but then the whole thing crashed to BSOD.

In event viewer I have this message: Fault bucket X64_0x116_TdrBCR:2_Tdr:2_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys, type 0

This I believe is a driver issue though I'm not 100%.

I have a GTS250 and I'm using driver version 191.07. I know they're old and outdated and most likely the cause of the problem but I have been using them for a long time now in quite a few games without a problem.
Secondly I have tried and failed on numerous occasions to install the latest drivers, downloading them from nvidia, uninstalling current etc but this was met with failure i.e PC freezing or not booting after install. In the end I stuck with what worked, did work at one time anyway.

What can I do to sort this problem out. Cheers. Mike.

I'm using the GTS 250. If you can download driver 195.62. I've never had any problems with this version.

If that fails and you get lots of green dot's again then I suspect your card is failing.

What kind of temps are you getting ? Mine runs at around 42C and rises to around 56C during gaming.

Similar temps at idle(35-40) and load(55-60). Probably just creeping past 60 at times.

I'll try those set of drivers you listed and see if that helps. Cheers. Much appreciated.

Finally got round to installing 195.62 drivers today. Booted up MoH to test, ran for about 20 mins then had a freeze. From which I had to reboot manually, No BSOD or anything. Therefore I can't retrive any info about the freeze/crash, event viewer isn't listing anything other than 'event 41 kernel power' which I believe is just code for improper shutdown. Card wasn't even laboring, was at a nice steady 58C.

Can't make sense of it tbh. Logical conclusion would be that the card is a scrapper.

I'll keep testing though.

Edit: No distortion or monitor shutdown though so I guess that's something :)

I can't fathom this tbh. All drivers prove to eventually crash, however I can't seem to install 260.99 drivers as they either freeze on install or pc fails to boot up after installation.

Tried the card in another machine, albeit running XP as oppose to W7 x64 but I was able to install latest drivers for the card and had no problems when I tested the card.

I have checked my CPU and RAM and they are running fine. Everything else is bang on and up to date.

No idea why the latest drivers fail. Can anyone shed any light?
