Need help with a universal remote.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum section,

Right iv got a asda universal remote its a urc20-d4f

its a pretty cheap thing, and iv got a pacific dvd player, now this remote i sware iv thrown it in the bin time after time. but i need it to work, some times it works some times it doesnt.

you have to turn the dvd player on and hold set and dvd on the remote for it to program into the dvd player, and its worked about 4 whole times iv tried it out of the posible 1000 times iv tried it.

any ideas how to get it to work, done everything in the manual it says. and its just drove me round the bend now

Does the original Pacific remote work 100%?

Does the URC work reliably if programmed to control some other DVD player instead of the Pacific?

If the answer is yes to both above then the problem is the codes used for that particular Pacific model. Try some different Pacific model numbers or use the code search function if the remote has it.

If the answers above are no then there's a problem with the DVD player, or the remote. Then the answer to that is buy better gear.

i stood on the remote so it didnt work no more so i bought this thing 6 months ago, its only worked twice, am determin to get it working though.

it works fine with my tv, and video player, just not the dvd player.

yep the remote has auto search, and it works im guessing as its worked for the dvd player twice. arrr! so annoying, might just buy a new dvd player. thanks anyway
