the stuff i purchased today is called, "Titan Nano Blue". can't i just use the stuff that's already on there?

If it's the stock AMD cooler which came with the CPU then it'll be fine.

I actually had to swap out a zalman aero flower for the stock cooler (X2 4400) and it's actually quieter (although I didn't use the fan controller on the zalman).

Edit: scrub that... I had to use thermal paste as the stock controller didn't have any... poor memory this brain and that's me on coffee! :D

If the cooler is AMD X2 compatible (within specs) then you'll still probably be fine. Keep the paste for next time. :)
