Hello,

I've been researching graphics cards the last couple of days but my head has turned to mush.

It's between a Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB for £132 or a new generation AMD card, looking at the prices, probably the R7 series.

Can anyone recommend which to go for or if there is any other options? I'm looking to be playing at 1920 x 1080 resolution at medium or higher settings.

I havn't got any preference towards the brand and my budget is a maximum of £140. May go higher if its worth it.

CPU is a Athlon II x4 @ 3.5ghz

PSU is 430 watt

I know the processor might be a bottle neck but I can upgrade that at a later date.

It's a Corsair CX series.

Won't that model you posted be overkill? What about the R7 260?

Well, if you're going to upgrade soon then the bottleneck will only be a temporary problem. If it's too much, I can spec something a little less powerful? :)

How much of a step down would a R7 260 be? If its not a lot id rather get one of them and save £60. Also how does the Nvidia GTX 660 compare to a R7 260?

Alright thanks for your help :)

lol I just keep hitting F5 to catch your edits :P

By the way I won't be playing the latest games. Just stuff like Arma 2, Euro Truck Sim 2, rFactor 2 and Grid 2.

Sounds like I can rule out the R7 260 if theres a GTX 660 on the table? Now how is the R9 270 compared to a GTX 660, obviously faster? and £40 more. You say its better value for money?

Can the R9 720X run off just one 6 pin pcie connector? The spec says it needs 2.

Motherboard is the M4A785D-M Pro. I think the motherboard supplys 75W + the 75 from the 6 pin connector thats only 150 watts but the TDP on the card is 180W. Could I get an adapter and run one of the 6 pin connectors off a molex which has a fan controller on it aswell?
