Hey everyone,

Got a bit of a problem with my nans laptop and her AOL broadband connection.

She has a BT 105 Modem which she connects through a usb port.. The problem is whenever she is connected, a message appears in the bottom right of the screen saying connection 2 (which is the modem) has disconnected.. The modem then reconnects but more often than not this causes the laptop to freeze up completely and need restarting.

She has all the filters on properly, so I dont think its disconnected due to that.
And the line has been tested and is also fine.

Any ideas what might be causing it, or how I could go about finding out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It's possible the USB modem's drawing too much power and causing the laptop to screw up (it wouldn't be abnormal). The solution (or at least, one way of identifying if it's the problem) would be trying something that doesn't use USB (e.g. a router).
