So I think its time for an upgrade in general, I want to keep my GPU for now though, I currently have the r9 270x. At the moment my motherboard doesn't support AMD FX CPU, so I want a motherboard that can, as I'm looking for a cpu like the fx 6350 or something similar. I am also a little concerned because I have never done a MOBO/CPU swap before and I don't know what i'll need to configure, so advice there would be helpful too.

My budget for a new mobo is around 100 GBP, and a new CPU around 120 GBP.

Thanks.

I would drop your mobo price to £65, which nets you the Gigabyte Z97P-D3. Then that gives you ~£165 to play with for your CPU, for which you'd get a locked i5 like the 4440

Is there any reason you want a CPU like the 6350? The i5 will give better performance in most-all tasks

The main reason I want to keep 100 for the motherboard is due to the fact I want more than one GPU slot for future upgrades.

I've just checked the motherboard to realize there is 2 slots, sorry about that.
But i'd rather stick with AMD as I know that AMD will definatly work with what i've already got, would I need to change my GPU or anything like that if I got a intel CPU/Motherboard

Ah, okay that makes sense

This has £23 cashback - https://toptechcashback.com/uk/en/p...il&utm_term=0_c199b69777-4c4a227cf4-212867289

So that works out as £254. Is that too much?

The 6350 isn't a great CPU as CPUs go. The 4690k will be faster in all tasks, despite having two (considerably slower) cores

The board supports SLI and Crossfire at x8 x8

What are your current specs you are upgrading from? If your graphics card is PCIE or PCI, then it will work with this Intel board just fine

I was an idiot not to mention this, but that mobo wont fit btw, i need micro atx

A gpu will work no different in a Intel board that it does in a AMD board. Do you need ram?

One option is this bundle of a Asus H81/i5 4440/8Gb DDR3 that's on offer at the moment but no option of going crossfire in the future.

Or

Gigabyte B85M-D3H £59.99 Very good board (I used one of these for my wifes pc) and does crossfire.
i5 4460 £154.99 Only £2 more than the i5 4440.

I normally don't recommend the locked cpu's as I feel they are overpriced but with Intels current ridiculous prices there is little option for your £220 budget.

There isn't really a AMD option on here that uses a decent m-atx motherboard.
