Hello,

Recently bought a Asus Silent Knight II CPU cooler from OC, great price £13.99!! I mounted it onto my Asus P8P67 with the LGA1155 mounting kit....no problems so far, keeping things cool and looks fine. The only thing is, when i google pictures of this cooler, everyone without exception is mounted on the board the opposite way. i.e left to right so the air intake comes over the ram chips and expells out the I/O panel, where as my cooler is mounted the other way so the air is coming roughly from beneath the PSU throught the fan and out onto the graphics card, top to bottom, if you follow me? Have i mounted the bracket wrong? i'm sure this was the only way it would all go together, like i say everything looks and seems to work perfectly, just looks odd. I'll post pics later.

Any ideas?? Thanks Lee H.

If I understand you correctly, You have it blowing DOWN towards the bottom of the case and your PSU is top mounted pulling air in from above the CPU cooler.
If this IS the case, won't the fan be competing with that of the PSU? This can't be that good?

Anyway, I would have thought having it blow towards the back of the case would be the better option.

But if temps are fine and everything and you are OK with it, why bother changing? :)

[EDIT]
In the interest of your graphics card though, you should probably change it to push air out towards the back of the case, don't want hot hair blowing on graphics cards!

I'm not sure i can change it? obviously the processor,(Intel i5 2500k) is seated on the motherboard one way only, and the cooler,(i think?) will only mount on the processor one way....it's very odd? I'm certain there was only one way of mounting the rear of the bracket kit on the rear of the board? I'll have to have a closer look, but i'm sure the cpu cooler seat,(the part which makes contact with the processor) is rectangular, so will not remount the other way. Thanks for the response and advice ;)

The mounting holes on the motherboard form a square.

You should be able to fit the cooler in 4 different orientations unless there are components in the way.

You really don't want to have the hot air from your CPU cooler blowing directly onto your graphics card. Most cases have the air flow from front to back, which us why you should have your cooler facing that way. PSU fans pull air in, and it is exhausted at the back of the case.

IF nothing else you should be able to at least turn it the other way as you want :) . Never having one may I ask if it is possible to just turn the fan the other way? Just and idea as I know I have been able to do this with all coolers I have ever owned.,

I think i've sorted it! :D I changed the mounting bracket round on the M/B and reseated the cooler the right way round, now air travels right to left out the I/O panel. I must admit, it really didn't look like it would remount, cause the socket on a Asus P8P67 is vertical, though the processor is square, as is the bottom of the cooler, but it still looks rectangular, which led me in the first place to mount it all wrong  I'm sure i wasn't the first and doubt i'll be the last.

Thanks for all the advice and pics Lee H.
