Tis a small annoyig laptop aimed at business users. Has no CD drive and the HDD is tiny ( I mean, TINY!)

It has a seperate CD Drive, USB, which also has a built in power thingy.

I cant seem to set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive to re-install Windows!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Clearly its windows getting its revenge for you moving over to mac :p

As for the cd drive. Try booting from what ever the external hard drive is plugged into, also in the bios it probably has a setting saying always boot from hdd or something like that, the quadGT had and it didn't matter if you changed the boot order it went to the hdd anyway ad skipped the others.

Im guesing the cd drive is a usb one?

you have to change the boot order to the usb and it wil work. But sometimes there is another option which is like always boot from hdd regardless of boot order. You need to turn that off as well.

Try pressing F12 at the initial boot screen for the boot menu then select USB device and with luck the USB optical drive will show up....

but I thought it was hard to install from a USB device (effectively) as there is no support to install from USB when windows try to install USB drivers it al goes horribly wrong.

True - but often the bios is able to present the device to the OS in some kind of compatibility mode that is fine. Also windows does support many USB devices out of the box (esp if it is an SP2 slipstream install disk).

Give it a go and see how you get on !
