Hey all,
I'm trying to build my own PC for the first time. To some this would be easy. I'm struggling. I'm a total noob and have no idea about compatibility sizes etc. So far i have:-

Antec 902 still sat in box.
Intel E8400 DC LGA 775 still sat in box.

These are the other components i would like to get. Are these going to work together?

basket

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Antec TruePower New Blue Modular 750W Power Supply

Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive Kit (SNV125-S2BD/64GB) X1

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD5001AALS) X2

OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 Dual Channel (OCZ2G10664GK) X2

Pioneer DVR-217FBK 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer LabelFlash ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

If these are going to work together, Are these really the best for that price range? Can i spend £10 more and get a much better component? Or £10 less and get the same quality?

Basically i need some help telling me if i'm making a huge mistake with this or if this could work. It's a lot of money to waste if i get it wrong.

This PC will be used primarily for gaming for me, And Facebook:rolleyes: for the wife. Any help will be greatly appreciated guys n gals. I'll be back on later. Now i gotta fix my roof..

all looks good, but 4gig of RAM is prob plenty, most peple dont need 8, and if youre going to OC 8 makes it harder, do you want an aftermarket CPU cooler? If youre going to OC youll need one, if youre not the standard one will do

thank you for your replies. I already have 4 GB of OCZ Gold in the machine i'm on at the moment so i'll probably just use that and see what happens. Saves me some money.

I'm also using Vista 32 bit so i aint got all of it at the moment but i'll be buying vista home prem 64 bit for my new machine.

I will try overclocking at some point ( i won't be able to resist lol ). What CPU coller would you suggest as an alternative to the arctic 7?. I have seen this CPU pushed to 4.0 GHZ +.
I don't think i'm that brave just yet as it will be my first overclock too.

Also, does anyone know of any size/space issues with any of these parts? Also taking in to account a different CPU cooler.

Sorry for all the questions but i'd really like to try and get this right first time. lol. I know that may be wishfull thinking but with you're help i might not screw it up.
