First off, I'm new to the site so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I was looking to get a cheap gaming pc and a friend told me this was the best place for advice because I know very little about making a pc.
(I'm also American, figured I'd say that)

I have $600 more or less (~380£)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Do you have any components that you can re-use?
Case, psu, sata hdd/dvd and An OS for example.
This would help enormously, as your budget is a bit tight.
Also, what games do you play?

madd, no offense but I think looking at OcUK for help when your in America is completely pointless unless you just require assistance in building the machine. As the prices are very different due to the VAT when buying online. Aka America doesnt have it, or at least nowhere near the same.

Idleman, although I will be checking out your list ( and a huge thanks for that ) I plan on playing Diablo 3, Team Fortress 2, and maybe some other shooters.

Edit: I also wanted an hdmi port for my tv as the only monitor i have is small and crappy

I also have no old parts.

Should I just go with the kit I was going to get and upgrade things later? [Although I have no idea what graphics card I would need or where it goes on the board (Seriously no clue about this stuff) but it saves me from the US and UK difference)

Just wondering although I sound like a fool for asking for help in the first place then.

Both specs have 8gb(2x4gb)ram. Can`t comment on the Psu`s. As for the hdmi connection, if you get a 6850, it will have one.

Not liking that DiabloTec PSU. Looks like an old design with no active PFC. The other one neither, but at least it seems a little bit better.

Otherwise, there isn't much between them. The thermaltake and MSI cases look cheap POS, the thermaltake looks a bit better internally. The Gigabyte board looks cheap.

tbh, you will be better going to the 'Egg' and sorting out a build within your budget yourself. I really don't like the case, or the PSU. When you buy this kind of system, you get a few unloved items thrown in that gimp the build.

Once you have a list of components (which I cannot show), we can give you a look over.

Also make use of the 'combo deals' to save a few bucks (CPU + motherboard, PSU + case, HDD + DVD-RW, ...).

For example, Here's what I had.

Coolermaster 311 + Silent pro 600W.
WD Caviar 500GB + Sony Optiarc.
2500K (on offer).
8GB 12800C9 Vengeance.
MSI Z77MA-G45.
$567.

Why dont you ask at an American website such as HardOCP where the forum users maybe more familiar with local prices etc.

Anyone else notice that the motherboard on those kits doesn't support Intel 3rd Series CPU's which is what the bundle comes with.

On the first link it says:

Processors Supported:
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7

Yet the processor in the bundle is 3rd generation.

EDIT: Just noticed the board is a Z77, so i guess they haven't updated the spec sheet?
