Hello all.
I'd like a midlevel gaming laptop, now I have been offered a Alienware X15M i7 revision 3, 4GB memory and HD5750 GPU.

Now, should I get that for £450 or can I get something better for no more than £500 as that's my total limit.

I'll be playing "World of tanks", BF3, Crysis 3 etc etc.
I don't mind if they're not at high settings.

thanks
steve

well for the 500 notes would be hard to find something new really ...maybe some xps from outlet if you are lucky but I don't think a GPU will be any quicker (although the 5750 is quite quick - faster then GT630)
If the state of the laptop is nice , why not :)

Someone linked to a Dell Inspiron 17r for £529.

Processor 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3337U Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.7 GHz)
Operating System Windows 8 64bit, English
Display 17.3in FHD (1920 x 1080) Backlit Display with Anti Glare
Memory1 8GB2 DDR3L at 1600MHz
Hard Drive 1TB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Optical Drive 8x DVD+/-RW Optical Drive
Video Card AMD Radeon™ HD 8730M 2G DDR3
Warranty 1 yr Next Day In-Home Service
Advertised System Weight 2.73 kg

That's where my money would go but you'll have to up your budget a tad. :)

The HP Envy M6-1232ea doesn't seem a bad deal at £550

** appears to only be in stock in a couple of stores :(

For the price and I had a budget similar to yours I went for a

Lenovo Z500, Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Dual Core Processor, 15.6" HD Screen, Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit, 6GB DDR3 RAM, 1000GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Dedicated GT 635M Graphics

the downsides:
Screen resolution - 1366 x 768 - for this price you're not going to get a new laptop with a better resolution with the appropriate graphics card
Battery Life - 3 hours - not found anyone that spends any time working off the battery
Weight - fairly meaty at 2.2kg

However imho for a shade under £500 this is a very good deal (be careful even where I found it the i3's were around the same price!)
