My wife played Minecraft years ago and has decided to give it another go but we've forgotten how to set it all up. Single player, survival, but peaceful so no bad guys. We've managed to get that part right, but now we need some navigation stuff. Is it possible to set waypoints?

She was building a house and lost it. I've said she needs to make a bed so she can die and spawn again there but is there a more efficient way of navigating?

Anyone know?

Cheers :)

I've never played minecraft. My lad is 8 and is interested in giving it a go, he plays mostly Roblox on our spare laptop, or Switch (although he hasnt played for awhile on that as I think he has exhausted the games we've got).

Not sure which edition to buy or whether to run a server ourselves on our home server...

Seems to run a local server permanently, you have to use the Java Edition, or your server is online only when your designated PC is on.

Choices choices...What did you do @Diddums?

My wife only plays locally, she's not in to the whole survival thing and just wants to potter around like women do, making pretty vases and stuff.

As for me, I'm hardcore, creepers and everything. I used to play the hell out of Tekkit when it existed but haven't played in years, and Minecraft largely died with it for me. We have our own Minecraft server which is child friendly a fair few of us have kids who play on it on the regular, also has a few mods on it, details here:

Pretty sure the Java version is the one that supports mods, the Windows version is for filthy casuals.
