Need help with mobo choice

Hi guys,

My gigabyte z77x-d3h motherboard recently died. I am running an i5 3570k and have recently purchased a GeForce gtx 1080. My only use of this system is games.

Can anyone recommend me a motherboard, which would be suitable?

Your help would be appreciated.

It will be more a case of what you can get on the bay.

There's slim pickings and decent boards sell at a premium.

Ideally, you would get another z77 - but a z68 would be fine as long as it has been flashed to latest BIOS to accept ivybridge (Even a p67 will take ivybridge if updated - but I would avoid this option personally.).

The z77 also has the advantage of the PCIe 3.0 slot where as the z68 is usually PCIe 2.0 unless it's on the second or third revision.

As Plec states, you are limited to whatever you can pick up second hand now and the prices on the bay are ridiculous. You may well be forced into a full upgrade if you can't find a decent board at a reasonable price.
