Hey there just got my
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-304-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673
7950 today

it has the EZ OC button, (which is supposed to take core from 850 to 950?) but it doesnt seem to do anything..

but anyway iv managed to oc my card to 1050 core, 1500 memory, with 10% power increase in ati CCC and its stable,

so should i leave the oc button pushed in? or switch it off?

thanks!

also coming from a 4870X2, i wasn't expecting miracles as the 4870x2 was a absolute monster of a card which played everything i needed smoothly still..
but this card blows it out the water, its silent, runs at 30c idle, 50c load (compared to 4870x2 @ core1 70c core2 90c idle and load with noise!)

and this card is about double the performance, vantage score gone from 18k up to 34k, and the fps in the tests is double. and every benchmark iv done its been double or over :) love it!

Put power limit to maximum and then just test how far you can push the core and memory clocks before it crashes. Then either increase the voltage to a level where you're comfortable with the temperatures or back off to the last stable clockspeed.

sorry dont want to seem rude, i know how to overclock.

i just didnt understand what ez oc button is supposed to do, or etleast should i say its not doing anything haha. so if iv got it pushed in will i have more voltage making my oc stable or something?

or should i switch it off and carry on oc as usual

It does nothing to the voltage, it just adds a standard overclock as far as i know.

Just got mine as well today as well, it's quite loud but not too bad for £179.

Sorry, I had it in my head to say turn it off and do it traditionally but must have forgot what I was writing! :)

So yeah, do that.

cheers pal.

iv got it up to 20% increase on power (full 200W from 160w, that its apparently supposed to do) got it whacked at 1100mhz core and 1575mhz memory stable and load temps are only, 55-60c, im absolutely over the moon.

on my 4870x2, idle and load was around 70-80c core 1, and 85-95c core2, and only got about 20-30mhz more on each clock. and even at that it sounded like a leaf blower.

this cards silent, and its clocked full that ati CCC will let it.

dead chuffed haha :D

Good job mate, its a great card!

Excellent :). A nice overclock. Give it a few loops of Heaven just to make sure it's OK and then commence the gaming!

Alternatively you can just game and adjust if it crashes... a reboot is recommended if you get a driver crash due to a failed OC.

aye iv give it about two loops of heaven and vantage and about 45 mins of bf3, and all seems good so far, i tried 1050/1500 @ 15% increase earlier and it was absolutely fine, for about 4 hours of bf3, so didn't want to push it further, but iv never known a card clock so much in my life.. tomorrow gonna stress it further and see how low i can go with the voltage without it getting artifacts. but so far so good. tempted to get another now haha! :P

The 7950's are renown for clocking nicely :). You've got a lot of headroom there on the temperatures to increase voltage. 1250 may not be out of reach!

1200 would be a nice 24/7 clock. Anything under 75c should be fairly quiet while gaming and more than cool enough. I'd be comfortable under 80c although there's no real problems running all the way into the high 80s other than noise.
