Good Afternoon all,

I need some help with my brothers Laptop, He just got back from Iraq and while he was out there the laptop caught some Viruses and stuff, now he managed to get rid of them as far as we can tell, but the problem is since this happened his buildin wireless does not work, the bluetooth works, but the std wireless does not. Its not seen in Device manager, Network connections, or on the HP wireless assistante.

the laptop is HP DV6000/DV6190eu im not sure as on the top of the screen it shows DV 6000 but on the service tag its DV 6190eu but hay what do i know?

The system has had a full system restore back to Factory settings, The wireless has not worked since, The device manager cannot see it, the Network conncetions cannot see it, and the wireless assistant does not read it either. I have reinstalled the Assistant and the actual Drivers for this Wireless card, But cannot seam to get it to go, or to do anything.

anyone with any ideas on how to fix this would be welcomed.

thanks.

Yes turned on turned off then turned on again tested it many times, It just turns the bluetooth on and off many times, just a thought? may it be something in the BIOS?
Should i look there?

Yep that was going to be my next suggestion. See if you can enable/disable hardware from there.

Is there any software running that picks it up at all, even in the slightest to show it's there? Or is it as if the system cannot see the device at all?

Jon

so would i but it seams not, so im not sure, I mean if it has developed a fault then it would still should just wouldnt work, so any ideas, as i check the BIOS its useless a Phenix BIOS limited slections in there not even a hardware or IRQ assignments page.

Well that would depend on the fault :)

Is there a status light or anything for the wireless on the laptop? If so, what happens when you turn the wireless switch on and off?
