ok got the bits today and started to install them into my case, everything went in fine, installed everything apart from the optical drive and the hard drive
plugged psu in and then hooked up my screen and when i turned it on fans span up and lights on the board came on, but nothing came on the screen i checked the CPUand GPU card and seem to be ok

any help appreciated,
thanks
*EDIT*
just noticed that the GPU cooler fan is not spinning anymore it used to.. but it tryes to spin up when i turn the PSU off at the switch

Go through your motherboard manual and double check your power connections. Does the GPU need it's own power supply?

Also try and run without the graphics card and use the onboard motherboard graphics. Then at least we can rule out one or t'other

ok just looked at the manual and i have plugged the 20 pin into the mobo, do i need to plug the 8-4 pin power connector into the mobo too?
and this board dont have onbord graphics

Some mobos are different to others, I have never had an Abit. Check your manual. Most mobos do require more than just the big 20pin or 24pin connector.

Really!? OK. Well if there's a power socket on the mobo and you haven't plugged power into it, chances are you should. I'm suyre you manual will say where all the power connection on the mobo are.

Dude, I just went on the Abit site and downloaded the manual. It says where the power connections are on the mobo. See below....

Only practically EVERY motherboard today, you will need atleast the 20 / 24 pin ATX power cable plugged in.

AND a 4-pin power cable, which is normally yellow and black wires, the plug is square shaped also.

If your graphics card doesn't need power going to it then hey it won't even have the connections on the back to do so.

Check the first two, and see what happens.

**EDIT**

Beaten to it by Albo, they are the connections that HAVE to be plugged in, in order to get the system to even begin booting :)

ok i did have a good read and im now cluless, i done a quick screenshot on the manul for more info lol
below, in the red circle i have tryed both of them and in the blue one i have tryed that separately and together with the 20 pin and nothing

i done that and when i pulgged the 20 pin AND the 4 pin it just turned on and no fans span or nothing

You need both connected matey :)

The 24-pin, and atleast the 4-pin (8 if your psu has it, if not don't worry)

Double check your cpu, make sure it is in the socket correctly (although being AMD you cant really get it wrong as it's 'keyed'....)

However try re-seating the cpu anyway.

it just turned on and no fans span or nothing

How do you mean it turned on? But didn't do nothing

Did anything happen? Did the fans twitch at least?

i have checked the CPU and seems fine, what im saying is when i plug the 20 pin, and the extra 4 pin in (to make it 24pin) and then the 4 pin that is nere the cpu, the mobo lights up, the fans do not spin up or twitch or anything

Does the screen show anything? Have you plugged the fans in, including the CPU fan so the mobo can control it?

i do have the cpu fan into the mobo and it spins up but screen dont show nothing
its fine with just the 24pin (nothing on screen)
but when i plug the 4 pin in at the top nothing happens no fans nothing

Assuming all the power connections are correct, try clearing the CMOS (you have to move a jumper over from one set of pins and then back). Abit recommend this is done before you power it up for the first time.

yep that was done first off, and just done it agian and the same thing, im trying to ring up ocuk tech help line but nothing at the moment
i realy appreciate your guys help!
