OK....

I got a PS3 quite a few years ago (one of the big Geroge Foreman ones) and to be honest have been using it as a glorified Blu ray player for the most part. only recently playing games on it again (thank you The Last of Us :))

Anyway my PSN online account ID is tied an e-mail address that I made specifically for this purpose and as I've not accessed the e-mail account in years it now appears to have been deleted as Yahoo have no record of it on their database when I go to reset the password.

Here lies the problem.

I want to transfer this account to a PS4 (should I get one, I'm swaying towards conversion!) however I can't remember the password. When I try to go through the "forgot your password" option on the sony website it says they've sent a password reset link to the aforementioned non existent e-mail address.

I've yet to try it on the console itself as eveything is set to auto log me in (hence why I can still use the account without having to enter the password each time) and I'm afraid it'll remove the saved password and then I would be screwed.

Is there a way to get them to send it to another e-mail address? What can I do?

Cheers.

If Yahoo have deleted the account, cant you just remake the account using the same email address and hope it works? I presume then youll be able to use the forgot password on PS3/SEN website as normal then?

You can apparently do this through the console, if you know your password....
Can anyone confirm? I would like to change this to the e-mail address I actually use if possible.

Why dont you try my idea? At least then youll have access to the PSN account and can edit it as required once youve got the password changed...

This does work. Or at least it has for me with old MMOs I stopped playing many years ago and wanted to play again (it was with a Hotmail account though, but I doubt that'd make much of a difference). I could still remember the address I used to sign up, so I just re-created it and then reset the password, changed the E-mail, then shelfed the address again.

Also it'll probably send a verification to the E-mail address it currently has registered if it works like most other account changes on websites.

I will try it mate. Just worried it's all gonna **** up somehow and I lose my account....
All you need to do is recreate that Yahoo account and then go through the forget password request that youve done before and see if it works.

If it doesnt, youve lost nothing and wont have affected your current situation - youll be back at square one, if it does then you can then get into your proper PSN account once youve changed password and modify the email address attached to it like you wanted to do, or just maintain the Yahoo account if that suits you...

As Nimdok said, no reason why it shouldnt work, your PSN account wont be aware that your Yahoo email account is defunct even if it is getting email bounce back, if it was Im sure you wouldnt be able to get on PSN right now :p

even though you created the PSN account years ago, you would have been forced to change the password after the big PSN hack in 2011 so maybe you just added a digit to it? or upped a digit if it had one anyway?

I probably did change it on the forced password change they implemented. Still forgot it though. Anyway would just like to say thank you to ps3ud0. It worked fine. In hindsight the soloution was simple and I should have figured it out myself, however I was paranoid that if it didn't work the PS3 would forget my saved password and i would be forever locked out of my PSN account haha.

Guess I can start looking forward to the PS4 then. I will probably convert (xbox user here). The only thing Xbox one has for me over the PS4 is Halo and I'm still not sure if i like the new direction it's going in. Either way I can play it on my sisters boyfriends Xbox one when he gets it.

Quick subject changes (saves me starting a new thread)

I have abysmal Internet since my recent house move. I get around 4MBPS at best due to ****** infrastructure and no fiber optic in my areas until end of 2014 apparently.

Now the 360 manages to stream HD (trailers for example) fine and downloads take a while (like on the pc) but the PS3 is shockingly slow on downloads most of the time. Like for example a 34MB file will download on the xbox in approx 3-4 mins. One I did on the PS3 the other day took like 20 mins +

I'm assuming this is down to shoddy servers on Sony's end.

Will the PS4 have decent servers and an online experience akin to my 360? I can live with large files of several gigs taking an age but if trailers can't stream without buffering etc then features such as the share vid clips etc will be wasted on me....

I imagine it'll be better due to extra revenue from subs needed for online play etc. But it's too early to say anything for definite until it actually happens.
