I'm about to take apart my hp dv7-6b51ea,the thing needs a good cleaning. The problem I'm facing is that I can not find the thickness of the thermal pads used in said laptop. I have gone through the service manual and a number of forums looking for an answer, but there does not seem to be anything about the thickness of the bloody things. Has anyone got any advice for me on this issue? I do not want to take the machine apart before I get my hands on all the parts needed in the process as this would mean that I'll be stuck without a computer for quite some time. Sorry about the typo in the title

Thanks already thought of that, but the gap between the gpu and the heatsink requires a thermal pad and the things come in all sorts of thickness, from 0.5 to 2.0 mil and almost everything in between. I have seen a number of liquid metal pad replacements, but I'm reluctant to use them as in the past I have had issues with them on more then one machine and the HP website offers no help on the matter whatsoever.

Took the bloody thing apart, ended up using a copper shiv 1mm thick and some arctic silver. Made the thing so cold it will not post temperature readings until it warms up to above 35c. Massive improvement over the stock **** that was there before.
