Need help with PS5 FPS gaming, multiplayer (BF4)

So, I noticed for a while now, my quality of play on PS5 while playing Battlefied 4 multiplayer has diminished. It started off as an intermittent thing but has now become constant.

I seem to be disadvantage in firefight exchanges mostly. I could shoot my opponent several times, they shoot me once and I'm dead (with similar type firearms). Even so with LMGs from a far distance, it would take me several shots to do damage to others but I have been literally shot once or twice from an LMG at distance and die. It never use to be like that, then it happened once in a while, now its pretty much constant. I use to be able to put it down to a server not being ideal for my connection and switch, now it seems I have the same results with all swrvers

I originally suspected lag / latency issues and tried things like reconfiguring DNS settings and prioritising the PS5 and BF4 in my ASUS router's QoS setup. But nothing seems to make a difference.

I also experience a weird thing when in aircraft. If in cockpit view, my view is all over the place as if my character is having a seizure or something. The view shakes and starts to go up by itself so it's almost impossible to aim. This also happens while trying to fire missiles from the M142 mobile artillery vehicle.

Anyone know what's happening here and / or anything I can do to fix it?

I'm currently on a fibre to home network with 360mbps down and 75mbps up speeds. Wired connection via an ASUS RT- AX86U router.

The game is a digital version that I have already tried deleting and reinstalling but it makes no difference.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's an old game - wouldn't be surprised if it's all server related; maybe with a shortage of servers (as EA support their newer titles), you're getting banded in with non UK players.

I find this happens a lot on Hell Let Loose - if I hit a ping over 100, vehicles do the seizure thing

As @Scort says it's a very old game. It's 11 years old now.
Your best bet is to buy one of the newer BF games.
I have/had all of the BF games, BF4 is still the best by far and still my go to.

Is a shame if there is no fixing this. 2042 is crap and I have no faith the next BF game will be better.

Imo 4 sucked, BF1 was quite a change, but very good, BFV was pretty dire, and 2042 is as welcomed as 2142 imo lol

BF3 was there series' last decent game imo, I so much as it had a cracking SP campaign and equally great MP - BF4's SP was so forgettable; it felt like they had simply jumped on a COD bandwagon and tried to just push MP, and tacked on a lowly SP experience just because.

Tbh though, the glory days for me were BF2 on the PC, and Bad Company 2 on the PS3.... sooooo many great memories from those days, and I'm pretty sure they added Karkand in as well!

It's sad that Dice didn't see that in the grand scheme of things, they were always the go to series for anyone who didn't want the simplicity that COD offered - and decided to ape that franchise more and more; to the point we got 2042.

I think the franchise had its time in the sun, unless they come back with a belter, maybe Bad Company 3 with its great SP and even better MP (and full destruction) then I don't think they'll ever get the old fans back. I've been with it since the first 1942 game and later expansions, trying to play on Freeserve dial up and some BT gaming thing lol - so it's always had a place in my heart, but not the recent outings.

If you are wired-in. Then believe it or not, those Ethernet cables do sometimes wear out, if you move the cable a bit. I replace my Ethernet cables on occasion for my PC. My cable had a broken end that made it loose, causing slowdown.

Perhaps you could change out the Ethernet to Cat 6, 7 or 8? And get a matching cable from router to modem?

Just a thought, the cables are cheap and may help. Cat 6 and Cat 6a cables are shielded and are recommended.
