I recieved this email/message on the bay from a buyer today:

Dear seller,

Hi, I've just got to work and tested the power supply on an off machine psu tester and found that there is no power to the 5v negative and when power is removed from the mains the 5volt Sub is still showing power. Could we either A. have a replacement product or B. a refund. I can arrange an insure letter or for the unit to be sent back to you

Can someone help me with this? Do I have to offer a refund?

Basically, the (Enermax 500W Liberty) was working 100% fine when I sold it and I don't understand what '5V Negative' is. My feedback (12) is 100% positive so far and I haven't sold a faulty component to anyone.

Does anyone know what '5volt Sub still showing power' means and whether I am in the wrong here? As far as I know, the buyer has not tested the PSU on a normal computer yet.

Absolute nonsense tell them to try it in a pc and if it works fine there is no problem I think they are trying it on if you are 100% sure it was working fine.Maybe they seen a better deal or feel they paid too much for it.

Cheers guys.

I'm mostly worried about him leaving negative feedback so I'll just have to see what I can do about that.

Why couldn't he just test the unit in a normal computer like everyone else...

Thanks a lot for the responses.

EDIT: Plus, he paid £16.50 for the unit, so I guess he should be happy with that price.

To seller,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have had the unit tested at my local PC shop by a certified engineer who after testing the unit on 2 testers he has for these types of unit, he informed me that the unit is not working correctly, it will not provide video or usb on a PC and in his professional opinion using it on a PC may well damage the motherboard.
I will gladly return the unit for you to test and if you find the same problem I would hope you will provide a refund or replace the unit with a similar one.
I look forward to hearing from you soon".

That's one reply I got back earlier. I've sent him the links that you guys provided (obviously not listing any names or forum details or anything like that, just the links)...so I'll just have to wait and see.

That's a great price some people are just unbelievable they probably got some so called tech expert to have a look.
Reply with the info people have given about the power supply above and link to enermax site regarding that info to reassure.

mary side so until those discharge 5V standby is still there.

As anyone dumb enough to go touching an old AT psu's bare on switch connectors without discharging the psu first will tell you.

... biggest electric shock I've ever had.

You got probably "kicked" by something in class of line voltage.
You could feel 5V pretty much only if you touched wires with your tong or sticked wires through skin because else resistance would be too high for "human detectable" current.

Yeah the -5volt line isn't there on many PSUs theres nothing unusual about that... and again the other "problem" isn't an unusual feature for a PSU...

Hes making a fuss about nothing.
