hey overclockers,

im making this post to ask for help on overclocking my system.

i purchased a whole custom system from overclockers a year or so back which was overclocked at 4.2Ghz. but since have had it reformatted and so the default settings have been restored. the system i bought has since been changed/removed from there online store so i can not link you to see exactly everything it has in it.

the motherboard is a gigabyte H55M-UD2H, either i3 or i5 intel processor, ati radeon hd 5870 gfx, a high power supply as the last one packed up, the biggest coller over the CPU iv ever seen. the default Ghz it is currently runnign at is 2.93Ghz but i know its capable of the 4.2Ghz. it originaly had 4gb ram but i have upgraded to 12gb. i was wondering if anyone and offer help on exactly what i do and input to get it back to the 4.2Ghz it was at.

i have tryed already from a website post -http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2010/01/28/gigabyte-ga-h55m-ud2h-review/3 (chaning the core,PTT,VLL,voltage ext) but all it did was restart itself and return to default settings of 2.93Ghz. im not willing to change it any further since i have no experience of overclocking what so ever but i am wondering if anyone here can lead me through it as i dont want to damage my system. thanks so much for you time and help.

-EDIT away for the weekend will check back after ^^ thanks

folks will need to know a bit more about your specs, specifically your cpu. also it may not be possible to get back to 4.2 oc if you've filled up your ram to 16gb.

Also would it be possible to edit your post?

That is a wall of text, and i am not reading all that!

Just add some paragraphs

thanks very much all for the replys and a very big thank you to j.col you rlly are a "wise guy" press 12 and it was recorded there, the system now runs perfectly back at 4.2GHz. thanks so much again guys.
