I'm wanting to upgrade from my i7 920.i have between £400-£500 for a new mobo,cpu,ram and cooler I have a few ideas of what to get but would like a few suggestions,I mainly use it for gaming and must be overclockable.i have around the same money next month for a new gpu,mine is a hd5970 at the mo.

Nice spec from Idleman, if you could squeeze a little more i would go for the Gigabyte G1 Sniper mobo as their RMA policy is really good and UK based i believe. That CPU cooler is top notch too, also consider the Alpenfohn K2 Mount Doom, similar price and also insane performance, and if you want to lob a few extra quid on the cooler then you could look at the Phantek one, cant remember the name but it comes in a few diff colours and is also pretty much the best cooler you can get on air.
If you fancy a closed loop, OCUK do the refurbed H100 models, they are about £45 and offer excellent cooling and low noise and the benefit of any ram will work, as a lot of the air coolers will restrict ram heights.
That ram is top notch also though and low profile so will work well with that cooler. Any ideas what GPU your looking at? If you got around £500 then an Nvidia 780Ti will cost you around £530, if you want to spend slightly less then the Non Ref 290x cards should be out by then and will definitely suit that rig.

Yeh the closed loop is a good idea.got around £500 for the gpu maybe abit more if needed will prob go for the Nvidia 780Ti.cant wait to get this built haven't been able to afford to do a rebuild since my i7 920,HD5970. a lot has changed and a lot of hardware has come out.

One thing i would consider, 780ti is a great great card, undeniable power, 290x is not far off in performance, not as expensive and the non ref cooled versions are due after xmas early, these will probably be clocked slightly better than the ref ones too. Not to mention the cooling should be a lot better on them.
Consider one of those as you can put any savings elsewhere into your PC, extra ram etc etc. Also we should know some info on the Mantle effect on BF4 after xmas if not before. This might be of no interest to you though if you dont play BF4 or any other future Mantle titles.
