Hey once again overclockers im back for more knowledge haha.

Ok this is my system (complete so all factors are known):

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster P2450
Mouse: Logitech MX 518
Keyboard: Microsoft Side Winder x6
Sound: Logitech 2.1
Case: NZXT Alpha
CPU: Intel 2 Duo E8500
RAM: 2 x 2GB DDR2 Elixir
MB: P5QL Pro Asus
CPU Cooler: Akasa Venom
GPU: Nvidia 470 Zotac
HD: 500GB (v old) (I have a F3 1tb in the post at the moment.)
PSU: 500w OCZ

Ok so I know that sandy bridge is out and I have been thinking of upgrading for a while, so id love it if anyone could check this all over for me.

I am also not sure if the 500w ocz is alright this upgraded setup?

This is what i was thinking of the following:

MSI P67A-GD55 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)

or

I will be running linux on my old hard drive and windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on the new F3.

Id prefer my budget to be around 500£ but its flexible.

Would I need a PSU upgrade? any information would be great :D

Thanks for your time, Xerco

Does that MSI board get the 20% vat back? if not then Get the Gd65 it will end up cheaper :). then drop down to 1600 mhz ram to save some money.
I would also suggest that you upgrade psu to something like the antec truepower modular 650w or corsair equivalent because i'm guessing youl want to overclock.

Geil all the way :D I doubt youl see a perfomance dip if you did choose the geil. You may need a new cooler or just new brackets to fit the cooler in order for it to work with a 1155 socket.

Most likely place an order monday morning, so still time if anyone thinks some thing should change or can confirm its a decent upgrade :)

(the akasa venom says it supports intel LGA 1155 im taking it that, that is fine for the mother board?)

Looks good.

The only thing I would change is the PSU to this one. It's £2.50 more, but for that you get a modular PSU that was designed by seasonic, 80+ bronze efficency and all-round a cracking PSU. Here is a review.
