i have just recieved my new pc parts, (e6300, DS3, 2gb geil ram, tuniq HSF), put them all together and when i turn on the pc the psu and the case fan will start up for a split second then turn off, no other componants are starting. I have also tried starting it up with the motherboard detached from the case. Any ideas? i will reply asap.

I got the same setup on one of the work pc. I remember it did the same thing and that was supposed to be configuring itself or something. I suggest pullin out the power plug and booting it a few times.

The geil sticks should work with 1.8V, besides the early voltage problem has been fixed with later BIOS revision. Try clearing CMOS or remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes.

I'm having the same problem (link) only with a DS4 and 580W Hiper PSU. I just get a quick blip of activity from the case and PSU fan but nothing else spins up.

Spent all last night building the thing only to be defeated at the last hurdle. :(

Bottom right corner of mobo where all the power on/off leads connect.
Disconnect them check them and reconnect.
Check manual or website for which way round they go.
I think you have these round the wrong way.

^^
No i am reffering to the tiny little connectors for your power switch on/off and all the other little fiddly ones.
Sorry about description but i am having a Muddy headed day here.

Edit.
Yes they are the ones i meant. Bumma, i will think more.

Have you reconnected all the others ? Swapped them about etc, check the website.

I share your pain bud :(

All i can suggest to you both is a complete rebuild but Prior to this step away from it and go do something else.
For me i Always hit a brick wall somewhere along the line and it is usually something i have overlooked.
Time away from the project and starting over again makes the issue obvious.
Disconnect and dismantle everything and look over all the components for faults and anything loose or missing.
Then when you rebuild only connect the minimum components and go from there.

My head is slowly clearing so when my brain works properly i will pop back.

also, am i right in thinking that the fan plug on the tuniq tower (3 pin) plugs into the "CPU FAN" pins on the mobo, of which there are 4?

Right, we have progress (ish), i unplugged the ATX_12 4 pin power cable from the motherboard and tried it, and everything came on....except the monitor, just stays on stand-by mode, i've checked the gfx card connections, and the pci-e power supply is plugged in, i've moved the RAM sticks about. So i make a little more progress than usual, if i unplug the ATX_12 4 pin supply. Any Ideas :(, i would like to get it sorted by the end of tonight :(
