hey, i'm having some serious trouble with my speakers/ sound card!

my speakers were working fine until today. tried to turn em on and suddenly there was no sound, at all! i have a creative 7.1 surround sound system, with a sound card. the problem is, i do not know how to go about trouble shooting it. so my question is, how do i start to trouble shoot what the problem is?

Anything else you can plug the speakers into? An mp3 player/CD player/hi-fi, i.e. something other than your sound card ... That will determine whether or not the problem is your speakers.

Also, try plugging something else into the sound-card - another set of speakers or headphones - so you can rule out the sound-card.

Need to know which one is at fault before you can start to troubleshoot ...

hey, sorry for the delayed reply ive been away.

have plugged my ipod into the speakers and they work fine, i have also tried plugging some headphones into the sound card and it doesn't create any sound. so that leads me to believe that the sound card is at fault. is there anyway i can troubleshoot it so that i don't have to go out and buy a new one?

Best thing to do would be to put the sound card in another PC and test it, other than that I don't know what else you can do.

Or if there is no other PC to try it out on, completely uninstall the sound-card drivers, download the newest ones, then try again. Put it in a different PCI slot when you re-install it too. Eliminate everything :)
