Built my new pc about a week ago, I went to restart it today and it will go no further than the gigabyte s-series mobo pic when it first boots up.

Any ideas about what’s wrong and what i can do to fix it?

580 watt, with a Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R, intel q6600, OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz and a Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB

Which PSU brand you running, is it a known brand or a no frills etc? If it is I'm led to believe its perhaps not fueling the components you have sitting in there.

Pull power, including all leads to the board and move CMOS header to clear position and also pull CMOS battery and leave over night.

Replace battery, move CMOS jumper back and re-attach PSU cables to the board and then boot.

Its a Trust 570w psu model pw-5500
I've tried looking for the rail ratings on that PSU and I can't seem to find them, this may not be the issue but a £20 PSU powering high quality components like you have is a bit of a foolish move in my opinion. I've done this before and suffered with shutdowns and other strange things like restarts. The PSU is the backbone of the system, you should really invest in something that is quality and reliable. Do you have another PSU you could test, perhaps from a friend?

Its was a means to an end. The psu i got with the case didnt work, the thread on the screws that hold the mobo in werent un screwing and ocuk wanted the psu and the case back, so like i said it was a means to an end :(

Thank You that worked :D

So you guys would suggest that i get a better psu then ?

You may well have no problems but most no frills PSUs perform poorly when they have demanding hardware to support. Especially GPUs like the 8800. I would be worried to overclock, if you could get an exchange perhaps I would just for peace of mind.
