I'm looking at buying a new PC but I will only be purchasing 3 parts and buy the rest later (Dont worry I will use the existing parts from my old PC to "fill the gaps")

I know what CPU I want : Intel I5 2500k

Struggling to decide what MB I need and what Ram I need.

I'm reading that SB motherboards support 1.5v Ram (example: Memory Interface x4 1.5v DDR3 DIMM Sockets)

However I am looking at the Ram and a lot of them say 1.55v - 1.65

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but the MB only says 1.5v would it still work?

This is the ram I am lookin at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-290-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

I also need a motherboard which will be a very good overclocker (i'm looking for 4 or more ghz stable without touching voltages only the multiplier) and a board that will support crossfire which I aim to get in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Wow thanks a lot Kaeo that MSI board looks perfect, although I still dont understand about the RAM voltages, I've read you have to manually change a setting in the bios to run the ram at the correct voltage and then get the full clock speed. what can you tell me about it?

Alright built the thing however I need help getting a few things setup.

My ram is 1600mhz xms3 8 gb but in the bios its running at 1333mhz at 1.472v on "Dram auto"

would like to get that running at the speed I paid for.

also the cpu voltage is on auto changing from 1.216 to 1.208

went for the MSI board

what voltage will i need to change the Dram to so i can get 1600mhz

seems my CPU is adaptive changing the core speed to suit the current task, I would much prefer it to stay at a solid 4ghz.

any advice?

thanks a lot surveyor, im struggling to understand the RAM readings in CPUz

under memory tab it says dram freq - 798 and fsb:dram 1:6

Im assuming im missing something but shouldnt it display as 1600mhz?

i dont want to go too extreme 4ghz is a nice solid number for me, im not overclocking the ram i'm just changing it so it runs at the speed it should

a lot of the voltage settings are currently on auto, I was hoping the unlocked chips were as easy as upping the multi, I'm in experianced in overclocking thats why i chose the unlocked chip as i have read they are easier and more stable at oc.
