OK people I've past the limits of my nerdism and i need your collective help.

The problem
If build my own linux pc using a gigabyte am3 mother board and a AMD Phenom 2 x2 550 processor, with a spare 8800gs graphics card that i had from a previous hptc pc and 4 gb of patriot x (free upgrade from overclockers).

The pc has an intermittent fault, some times it refuses to post, and will just sit their fans at full and no hard drive activity light coming on to get the PC to boot I have to remove the powersupply lead and hold down the on button, the pc flickers into live for a second. once that is done it posts :confused:
Other times it will work straight away from pressing the button.

I have run a memory test to see if thats the fault, but comes back clear, i have switched operating systems fom linux to windows and still have the same issues.

Please OCUk help me before i chuck this thing out of my window

p.s the pc runs fine when in normal use to bsd, or errors/ artifacts from the graphics card.
p.p.s I have also inspected the case and cleaned the entire thing heat sinks and all of dust and still the issue.

Can you get you hands on a different PSU to test in the rig?

For now try disconnecting all non essential peripherals and secondary drives etc...

Could you list your complete spec?
