So I've switched over my gpu, ssd and psu to a different motherboard. Fired everything up and I'm getting an issue where it can't read the ssd. I've run a hardware check and it's coming back with smart check: passed short dst: passed. After that I click exit and I'm getting ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. Also when I start the pc it's saying checking media presence.......... Media present.... Start Pxe over IPv4. then switches to IPv6. After a couple of mins I get a blue message screen saying boot device not found please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk - (3F0)

It may be worth noting I've switched over from an old amd motherboard and cpu to a hp mobo with i5, would this make any difference?

The ssd is plugged into a blue ssd port on mobo, not really sure what else to try. I don't want to run the risk of wiping my ssd..

Mobo is hp IPMB7-MP. I haven't messed about with the chip or anything. Literally just unplugged everything needed from old mobo and plugged into new. Ssd is connected to a blue sata2 port on mobo. Am I missing something or can what I've done not be done?? Any advice would be appreciated.

The old mobo and chip Im coming from was ridiculously slow so have moved everything over to this i5 and hp mobo until I get new ordered.

Remove all other hard drives and SSD’s apart from the one with the operating system on it.

boot the machine and see what happens.

If it works, then start reconnecting the additional drives one by one.

If however there are no other drives then a cmos reset may work

I only have one Ssd I'm using, its come straight from my working setup and plugged into this new mobo and now not working. I've tried a Hdd with win 7 on to see if it was the ssd port on the mobo that wasn't working but same issue. Hard disk (3F0).

Whats the cmos? Could you run me through that? Is there a risk of loosing everything from my ssd? That's my biggest concern. Thanks for your response I'm loosing my hair..

I don't understand why it's saying there is no boot device found, I literally upgraded from win 7 to win 10 last night on old set up and everything was perfect. I've gone though the bios now and I can see my Samsung ssd so it's clearly recognising it..

Such a major change usually requires a reformat, you will have all the old AMD drivers on that hard drive now in an Intel machine, the errors, could easily be bios configuration differences, like if the drive was in UEFI mode on the AMD machine and now is in CSM mode on the Intel machine, but judging by the age of the machines it could be that the drive was AHCI on one machine and Legacy on the other.

Also is there a CD / DVD drive, is there a disk in it ? remove it if yes to any of those.

It also sounds like its trying to network boot to me.

Possible fix: https://www.howto-connect.com/start-pxe-over-ipv4-windows-10/

Thanks for the reply. I've followed the steps putting the USB hard drive at the top (not sure why is says USB hard drive) but no joy :(

USB hard drive ???? are you sure you have it in the right port or selected the right hard drive, you said the bios can see it as a Samsung SSD, it shouldnt be seeing it as USB its SATA

Yeah it's plugged into the light blue. No idea why it's saying USB. Just double checked and still saying USB on the boot order and plugged into the sata 2 port?

In the bios there is something called dps self test. When I click that its showing up the correct sata2 Samsung ssd 860 evo.. So it can see it.

Also under device configuration its showing hard disk: sata2 Samsung 860 evo

Take the battery off the motherboard and leave it for at least 60secs (the circle battery).

Put the battery back on and that will have reset the bios to its standard configuration. In no way will this affect what is on the SSD.
Let us know if that works

Yes try this, but also when you remove the battery, make sure the PSU is also unplugged and switched off, hit the power button a few times to drain the caps in the PSU, otherwise it will supply power to the cmos whilst the battery is out and battery removal will have no effect.

Once you put it all back together, your bios will be reset and need setting up again, boot order etc.

in your bios you should have CSM (compatibility support module) or even legacy under chipset. enable or disable depending on which setting is selected for you and that should hopefully work :)

I tried this but didn't work :(

I tried running with legacy enabled but no joy.

I've put everything back as it was in the old mobo/cpu and I'm fine, so have decided to go with my original plan and buy new amd parts so I don't have any issues.

Do you guys think this spec would be good for most current games on high graphics?

Ryzen 5 3600
Msi b450 Mortar plus/msi b450 tomahaw
Gtx 1660 super

I have 750w psu, ssd evo and 12gb ram currently (will up to 16gb ASAP.

Yes that will be fine, but you know it requires DDR4 ram ? yours is probably DDR3 so wont fit in a newer build.

Something like this will be cheap a chearful and work fine, the alternative is an 8gb kit, the Mortar and Tomahawk are great boards, the best in that range in fact: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-3600mhz-dual-channel-kit-blac-my-0a3-tg.html

Thanks bud. I completely spaced on that!! I've ordered 2 8gb ddr4 3200 so should be good to go now.
