OK my decent PC is dead and I'm waiting for a new power supply so i'm stuck on this aged P4 system with a x1800xt which runs like a dog. I can't play battlefield 3 or Skyrim so need some ideas on what to do for the weekend on this machine!

ps can't switch PSUs sadly as this uses a 4 pin mobo connecter supply and my proper pc has a 8 pin connecter.

Just found some old boxed games, complete collection of myst might be worth ago, I got half way through the 3rd one (exile) and quite enjoyed them so far so could play them.

Or might find a cheap indie game maybe binding of isaac.

Kongregate is good to kill an hour but wont sort me out for a week while i wait for my RMA!

Might have to try GoG, never used it before but it could have some gems I have missed over the years!

GTA would be a good call but I have played them all! (except 4 and that certainly won't work on here!).

Skeeter, seems like we have a similar taste in games! I bought limbo on PC release day had been waiting months for it to come out!

Just realised I have Far Cry 2 on this PC as it happens, don't think it ran that well, Far Cry 1 might be an idea as I never played it!

I am okay for today TV is okay on a friday, anyone else find Victoria Curen particuarly hot?

As it happens i used to play wow on this machine, (just!).

I feel a bit guilty asking for all the ideas but i have made a big discovery!

I thought the PSU from this machine 4 pin EPS/ATX12v and 1 PCIE 6pin would not work on my good PC as it has a 8pin EPS and needs 2 PCIE 6pins.

After some research it turns out i can use a molex -> 6pin PCIe converter (i have 2 in my 5850 box) and I can just stick the 4 pin EPS into half of the 8pin on the mobo!

As my CPU is not overclocked i get the impression this should be fine until my RMA is sorted!!

Anyone know anything if this is a risk? going to do it in the morning so i can play BF3.

Ok I'm on my 'good' PC which seems to be working with the old power supply using some molex - pcie converter and using a 4 pin ESP12v connector into my 8pin mobo.

PSU a bit noisey but lets see if it plays bf3

shame there is only 2 HDD plugs have had to leave my dvd and 2TB storage HD unpowered
