Need inexpensive monitor

I need some advice. My monitor is a 20.something inch 4:3 Samsung 11 years old! I need a new one! I need two HDMI ports on it, one for my pc another for the work Mac...

However, currently it's driven by an equally old GeForce GTX 560 ti but soon will have a 1080 driving it.

However, I have almost nothing budget for s monitor! I don't want to go so far as 4k. And space is limited to maybe 23 24 inches... What do I need to look for so I don't buy something that utterly wastes the 1080s awesomeness?

Currently looking at either:

or

With the 24 inch, I have space to run a second monitor for when I'm not gaming... :)
I have an Nvidia card so free synch means nothing, I like my blacks black and my images not ghosting, but I'm still very tempted by the aoc...

What do you all think? I really should just get the cheapest... :(

so the 24 at 1080 is ok?
any way to figure out input lag? other than reading a tonne of reviews? IS there a TN you'd recommend for gaming instead? My friend who is normally well researched has his heart set on VAs...

the pc I have coming will have a geforce gtx 1080 in it... so I want a monitor that doesn't waste the gc lol... bascially you think the 1080 shouldn't be for monitors over 22 inches (to stay over 100k ppi)

The issue is I'm getting a complete pc system... it has the 1080 in it and I'm getting it at an amazingly good deal...
I feel the issue.. I should try to stretch to a 1440p monitor really huh?

Hmmm, I wish they were easier to find on the website! lol

personally 1080p vs 1440p is light night and day to me. i would choose 1440p over 1080 any day of the week. its the sweet spot personally. when i went to 4k i did not notice as much as a difference from as i did from 1080-1440. maybe grab a second hand 1440p with a decent refresh rate.
I'll look for one... But I'm not convinced I'll get a great deal what seems full of wanna be retailers these days... ☹

I will agree the monitor market is a bit weird at the moment. With some being much more expensive than 6 months ago. I just wish AMD and Nvidia went down the freesync route and it was the same standard as it would make life for the consumer much easier and monitor pricing a little better. But that argument has been discussed so many times.
Yeah gsynch is so expensive... May be I'll put up with my 20.5 1600by1200 for s bit longer... :(

I mean I'm stuck with the advice so far:
1080 us too small for anything over 22 inches
1440 is wasted on a screen below 27
The aoc 32 is to big to be a monitor: I need to sit back..
144 kHz 1080 would last a long time with the GTX 1080 with all graphics settings literally set to max.
1080 is a total waste of the GTX 1080s power...
But I still barely have £200 for a monitor after getting my system...
Basically there are no good choices until the 250 to 400 price range... that's terrible!

Yeah I'm tempted to either pick up something in 24 inches 1080 (not 144) for a couple of years (the benq at £119), or just make do on my old 20.5 square monitor and save for something lush... but I'm only getting the system as it's been offered at a ridiculous rate, I mean I'm paying ~700 for a system with a i5 6600k, 3 250gb sdd drives, the 1080 (the extact card is on oc for ~550 ), 16gb 3200 memory, all built in a case runs cold and silent and overclocked to 4.5 ghz... it's a very very good deal (not here for a price compare). I only mention it because normally I couldn't even think about that kind of graphics card, which explains why thinking about 400 on the monitor is also tough for me!

:( I need to save more lmao...
