hi all i was wondering if someone could give me a base line for my overclock,i have a i7 860 cpu and the maximus 3 mobo,i am using the h50 as my cooler what's the max stable oc i can get on this setup, more info in my gaming sig below on other specs of my pc.

if someone could give me a basic start on what settings to use blck, volts ect.

as this is a new cpu ect im a bit baffled for some reason on what to change settings to,if i hit the auto oc its max is 3.36ghz,surely this can go higher?

also if someone could help in getting my ram to run at its best this would also be a great help,i have tried reading up ect but as normal it goes right over my head and ask for you help.

thanks for your time

HI I run mine at 3.65 with a 0.0085 offset in voltage. This for all intents and purposes is 1.3 vcore. I left pll, vtt etc at stock.

This is at 166*22 (i.e. turbo). These settings enable me to keep all the power savings and hyperthreading benefits on. i.e. it downclocks to about 166*9 and reduces the vcore to something silly like 0.85.

However I can run this way faster up to 4.2 ghz (200*21 with turbo off)), but you need to fix the vcore at around 1.5, push up vtt and pll a couple notches. I also need to turn off c1e states, and hyperthreading.

I lose all the energy savings however as the core is always running at 4.2ghz. About 130watts compared to in idle about 30w when using the energy saving states. Load temps push towards 80 when running intel burn test which is too toasy for me. They never get over 60 when running ibt when at 3.65ghz.

Hope this helps.
