Hey so basically I am looking for a laptop for work. The specs I've been looking at are i7 quad core at least 256gb ssd with about 16gb ram (less important) whilst also being quite light and portable. The XPS 15 and Zenbook Pro are the only two I've been able to find so far. Are there any others of similar spec? Cheers

Macbook pro? It ticks all the boxes. I love mine after having used thinkpads for the last 15 years.

Fair point! Not entirely sure whether I can go mac (perhaps due to enterprise license of windows?)

Boot camp. This is built into Mac and you can boot straight into Windows. I have a work computer that is a Mac and I have to use Windows on it because of the software I need.

I have a Dell Xps 15 9550. I7/16gb/512GB/FHD/84Whr spec. I have had it for about 4 months, the only cons I can think of are the short travel on the keyboard and the sh*tty placement of the webcam.

Best of all is that I bought it from the Dell U.S refurbished store (looks as new) with a 1 year on site warranty for just over $1000 or about £700 (less when I bought it). If you have any friends/relatives over the pond or you are visiting there anytime soon its worth a look!

Was literally there 2 weeks ago! I wouldn't be the one buying it though so not really an issue for me. I'm glad it's working out well for you so far. Great spec on it.

I have a surface pro 4 for personal use, don't think I can do the work I do on something that doesn't have a bit of grunt though so an ultrabook processor would be less than ideal. Not many alternatives to XPS 15 and Zenbook Pro at all as far as I can tell.

Yeah the true quad core 45W processors do make a noticeable difference.

Theres a list here (at the bottom) of all the laptops with a 6700HQ, most are 'gaming' laptop but you may something suitable.

The Macbook pro is still decent, but its expensive and hasn't been updated since Haswell.

That's true I have one through work and it has a 4870. My home laptop has a 6820 and that is a beast! I still think the Mac is fast though.

Very interesting you say that. Went for the 6820HQ to get that bit more power (more important to me). The Lenovo P50. Which have you got (I'm curious)?
