Hi all...

I need to purchase some small speakers for my laptop that are as loud as possible without distorting. Basically I want good quality for music and DVDs but they have to fit into a laptop bag/small case.

I know I'll be restricted due to the size, but what are the loudest/best quality small 2.0 speakers available atm?

Thanks for any advice.

Pete

Are the Creative Gigaworks T20 2.0 small enough? If not, perhaps the Creative I-trigue 2.0 2200? Mains output required in either case (no USB powered ones will go at all loud)

How do the two stack up against each other?

If there's not a huge difference I'd be tempted to go for the smaller option, but if the T20s are a lot better I could maybe squeeze them in.

I would guess the T20 will be quite a lot better as it seems to use a textile tweeter and is a 2 way design, so it should have good detail and lower bass extension (the specs suggest it goes down to 50Hz, as opposed to 120 for the others).

For music and movies these are big advantages as you should get a much clearer sound with the 2-way design, because you don't have the single rather small drivers handling everything; and in movies you should get more impressive explosions etc :) . Also, with the smaller ones you may need bass boost for good sound, and this will limit your unclipped dynamic range. I haven't used either personally though and the I-trigue are rather cute ;)
