Hi guys

So after a new build ive decided to update a few more bits on my PC

So basically ive got a X99 MOBO and standard memory modules:

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Quad Channel Kit

I want to get 16gb of ram with led's, when I got the above memory I ordered the 3000Mhz version, only yesterday I activated the XMP profile so I think its running at true 3000mhz, have not noticed any difference in performance

Can you please recommend me a ram that has led lights in red or white and that can handle the XMP setting.

cheers guys, just a bit confused

XMP means Extreme Memory Profile. Basically they are speed profiles that are stored on the memory that the manufacturer has validated that they work out. XMP profiles change from kit to kit but should in theory always work.

So basically just have a browse of the DDR4 section and pick a kit you like the look of. Avexir have loads of kits with LEDs, Corsair has the dominator platinum range and Geil has a few too.

Speed is largely unimportant as you have found.

oh, i had a look and most of the high mhz avexir led memory is out of stock, dunno why so i found this:

its 2400 mhz and 2666 mhz memory
i suppose these memory modules dont have xmp coz of their low mhz rate

but xmp doesnt really do anything noticeable, ive had xmp on for 2 days now and i cant see shizz, so oviously the above memory will work?

Lastly you know there is a dual memory kit, 2x8GB now it dual coz its 2 sticks, so if one was to purchase two of these 2x8 kits that would be quad, so will that work on a x99 quad motherboard?

Those would be the XMP profiles. Typically the ram will run at the the JEDEC standard of 2133 or 2400 Mhz for DDR4. Anything above is overclocking and is essentially what XMP is, a pre-validated overclock that should work and is saved as a stored profile.

In reality you are not going to notice a massive diffrence I would imagine between Ram running at 2400 Mhz and Ram at 2666 Mhz.

X99 supports Quad channel so when you have 4 identical memory sticks populating the relevant channel it will run at Quad channel, so yeah buying an additional pair of 2x8GB sticks which will need to be identical to your current ones will allow you to use quad channel.

Another pair of sticks with lights in either white or Red would be the Kleev Cras, awesome looking sticks IMO, though very hard to get in Europe.

seen, i might just get the dual channel x 2, but have you seen the Raiden memory, plasma lightning effect on the dimms, they look sick, unfortunately only on DDR3

and the Kleev Cras looks amazing to, again DDR3 only

not sure if I should wait abit or just get the white avexir, there is no XMP but ppl can manually overclock, im sure of it...

Kleev Crass is DDR4 only, there other models are DDR3.

There will only be an XMP profile more then likely if the RAM has been rated at speeds higher then 2400 / 2666 Mhz.

Oh, I was under the impression that xmp profiles are only for 3000mhz only, cannot see any 2400/2666 xmp sticks, that would make it cheaper...
