Hi guys I'm really on tight budget to buy new microphone, I need it for streaming and talking to friend while playing as my current one is from logitech camera c920 which is terrible. I looked and I found BM-800 for £22 ish on rainforest is it any good, it's a condenser microphone so I would need phantom power or something I think although I'm not sure. I would appreciate your help

Thanks for your replies but Samson Go looks weird and I would like something that is professional look but I dont want to break a bank with my budget 40-50 pounds at most for a mic as I still need to buy boom stand and pop filter.

What does look have to do with it when SQ is the primary concern? I use a sennheiser ME66+K6 which is nothing much to look at but it is very common in the professional world used in noisy environments. (suits me perfectly as I use speakers more frequently than headphones) The K6 negates the need for a phantom 48V supply as the mic is powered by an AA battery. I'm not recommending this mic though as it's way too expensive.

Samson C01U would be a lot better than that BM-800. The t.bone SC 440 USB seems incredibly well regarded on Thomman.

The ME66 is more of a prosumer mic, it's good for the price point and certainly sounds better than Rode equivalents. at £150 is not a bad mic but not one for using indoors environments like podcasting.

As stated I don't recommend it for the OP, just stating that looks shouldn't be a deciding factor. We use the 66's in work for outside broadcasts as part of a normal news gathering camera kit. A Sony ecm-77B lavalier is normally used unless there is too much ambient noise, then the 66 gets used. For recording voice overs etc we use a neumann U87 IIRC, which really is silly money.

The samson parts or t.bone part suggested should be more than adequate for the job. Phantom power is no problem with a usb mic so there's no need for an injector or pre amp either.

Honestly if you're trying to push your budget so low you can expect not getting anything too great...

You'd be better extending your budget to double that imo and getting the AT2020 USB or better, the Rode USB. The rode is very recent and an excellent USB solution if you don't want to get a 48v audio interface to power an XLR mic.

The RODE also looks extremely professional with the free included pop filter as well, so take that into consideration.

It even comes with a little stand too!

You could just buy a ModMic and attach it to the side of your headphones. Probably the best mic you'll get for £40.

Push your budget a little bit and you can just about get a Blue Microphones Snowball, which is what I personally use for streaming and in-game comms and I can't fault it at all for what its used for.
