so the 500gig 7200.12 'cuda is nearing its limits. Whilst im happy speed wise, i wouldn't mind something a tad faster still. Do i:

1) get another one and go raid (£24 in clearance)?

2) get a single 1tb 7200.12/sammy f3 (£40-45)

3) splash out a bit on a 1tb wd caviar black? (£72)

I think you might want something a bit bigger than a 1gig ;)

This looks good - even when not on offer :)

Either that or this is a little cheaper when the offer ends on the other one :) although 500RPM slower (not sure how much difference that would make in real-world situations......

get 3x Samsung F3 1tb's for £40 a pop and then put them in raid5 and have another disk to backup anything important on the array.

oops, quick edit is in order.

enigma, this will be my main drive(s). speed is of the essense here (ie, 7200rpm drives)

kg648. Im only looking at 1tb at the mo. Im not looking to spend £120 either, haece my 'splashing out' at £72

If you want speed for your main drive, get this - bit more expensive but the speed difference will be well worth it :)

then you could get one of the sammy 1TB drives in a couple of weeks... they are dirt cheap at the mo arent they :)

nuh-uh, considered SSDs before. For me they're just too dam expensive at the mo. £100 +the cost of a f3. Thats almost £150. Im talking a third of that.

Let me bring up my point again: Splashing out is in the region of £70
