Need Networking Help

I have an old Laptop on Windows XP Home Edition and a new pc which has Windows Vista.

I have both of them cabled up to my D-Link router...but dont know what im doing wrong as I cant get them to see each other...please help

*** When I go on the XP Laptop, and click 'View Workgroup Computers' i get this message: MSHOME is not accessable. You might not have permission to view the network resources.

What?????

Both PCs have the same workgroup name, but they can not see eathother and its winding me up lol

Right, I have managed to get them to see each other.

When i go on my XP Laptop, I go into 'My Network Places' and then 'View Workgroup Computers' and when I click on my VistaDesktop, it asks me for a username and password, but I dont know what username and password it requires because on my Vista PC, i've gone to network and sharing and password protect isn't on....any advice?
