Well after just 9 months my P5Q has decided to not POST.

So now I can get a replacement or credit.

I can get another P5Q Deluxe or was looking at these boards.

Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4
ASUS P5E DELUXE X48

Now shamefully I didn't buy it from overclockers or that foxconn X48 board would have probably been my definite replacement but the place i got it at don't have it :/.

Last I looked X48 is better than P45 as a whole right? however if the Gigabyte or P5E dont clock better than the P5Q then I will go for the P5Q as I only have a single GPU atm and probably won't go X-fire as DX11 cards around the corner.

From what I have read, the X48 is just an updated X38. P45 is newer and as far as I can see, better. That said, they both seem to overclock very well - just that the P45 is a bit faster.

The X48s use x16x16 crossfire, while the P45s only seem to go up to x8x8. However, the P45 use the new ICH10 southbridge, the X48 uses the older ICH9.

They are all great boards though, so I'm sure you will be happy with any decent P45/X48. Personally, i'd go with this reasonably new board, its a good price and is packed with features.

Thanks guys for the opinions

I have looked at the options the retailer has and gonna go for the
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 P45, would imagine the DS4 would be better than a DS3?(they dont have the DS3 anyway and the DS4 is within the price i bought the P5Q Deluxe)

Would be my first time going off the trail with Asus but I have had 3, 1 died within 2 years and now 2 have died within a year. Heard only good things with Gigabyte and probably to top things off easier RMA if things go wrong after a year. Hopefully its gonna be a good experience.
