Hey OCUK

I've really liked your service and help from day one. I bought my first real computer from you guys around 5-6 years ago tho their was hic-ups and I had to send it back due to GPU not working the day I bought it. You guys happily took it back and fixed it, and it's still running with some TLC today!

I am in need of a new system and see you guys changed things allot but I feel like the systems you have seem a little under powered in some parts compared to what I bought at the same sort of price.

Before I receive a flaming for my previous comment, here is why;

My current PC I got from you guys years ago is a Titan Triceratops with these specs;

Graphics: GTX 460 MSI Cyclone 1g DDR5
Intel Core i5 2500k 4.3 ghz Overclocked
PSU: 650 watt OCZ
HD: 500 gb Western Digital Caviar Blue - Now 2x 1 Terabyte Samsung Barracudas

Xigmatic Dark Knight CPU cooler
MB: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Z68 socket
RAM: Kingston HyperX Genisis Grey 8GB DDR3 1600mhz channel
Bit Fenix Shinobi Case
Windows 7 HP

Paid around £750.oo Including tax and you included some amazing parts but your systems around that price have lower powered PSU's. Is their a reason for that? 450 watt PSU seems kinda low or is it? There is no mention of motherboard make or model too, aswell as RAM manufacturer or specs.

You guys were the ultimate boss back then and offered an amazing service as-well as making custom building a thing of the past, which was unreal and a massive eye opener, offering amazing systems for bang for the buck with a pack of free Harribos.

Your rightly why I scrapped the likes of Dell, Asus and HP systems, they sold high and put little effort into the parts in the machines they offered. OC is above and beyond that sort, that's why I've shopped parts from you guys time and time again.

I hope you guys can help as I can't decide what to do as I have 2 options, replace the PSU for a graphics card upgrade to bring me up to scratch or buy a whole new system, the latter seems uncertain until I can be sure the new systems will really outperform and tower what I have in all areas of my current machine.

My PC is used mostly for my hobby as Let's Player on Youtube and have done for years and what I need more then anything is a real upgrade, especially for rendering 1080p videos very quickly which currently can take up to an hour for a 10 minute edit! I if possible want to continue to use my current drives for storage and get an SSD in. I also only use Nvidia / Intel systems as I am so used to the combination.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post, and all the best too.
You guys showed me what a REAL PC can do and gave me the best gaming PC of that time, towering the stingers I had before it!

I hope one day I can visit your store! Thanks OCUK ;)

For your PSU question, manufacturers of pc components are forever pushing forward to get lower power consumption. OCUK wont sell you a full system with a PSU that is not good enough :)

PS a SSD would possibly be the best upgrade to get first :) will bring the system to life!

+1 for the SSD.
How much are you looking to spend? An i7 should help with the video rendering.
Are you looking to buy a pre-built system or build it yourself?

Thanks you guys. I was going and hoping for a whole new machine but I'll just upgrade what I have for now. I will have to replace a few parts which would make better sense. I just wouldn't want to throw it out as it performs great with how I use it. I think it's still a solid build to keep and I've got no real problems other then the PSU and GPU needing upgrading. The drives are fast and gaming is still great. I will keep my eye on the builds from the OCUK store in hopes for a replacement.

I was looking at this one with no secondary hard drive as I have my own I would use and a cheaper case to bring cost down.

I researched the i5 that comes with it;
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2500K

Dunno if it's leaps and bounds but the score against my current cpu is not what I expected.

Think you're missing a link :D

Nah if you're going for a new build I'd go i7 for your video encoding. I wouldn't go for an i5 as as you've sed, it's not leaps and bounds ahead of what you've got.

Good luck with the upgrade :)

I second the notion of going with what you already have. Your CPU is still pretty adequate imo. The best upgrades are SSD, GPU and PSU in that order in terms of prioritisation for daily use, then gaming. Everything else you have is looking perfectly fine for the moment.

Yeah I had looked at the i7 option, i'll look out for any deals on those systems.
