Bit of a depressing thread but im fed up with life its a tad mundane im 21 in november and id like to have something to show for myself.

Got 9 Gcse's plus 3 A levels in Music tech. im signed to various labels but they hardly bring in money which is the sad reality that if your not david guetta your no one financially in this industry.

I work at next in factory level work, while the wage is good ( £9hr avg) its hard graft and not mentally rewarding.

Ive thought about getting into IT ( love building my PC up and adding parts) thought about computeach course paying DD each month still working at next and studying in free time, they say there are jobs at the end.

Thought about doing my part dream of becoming a personal trainer and doing a course in that, i trained for the olympics a while back ( not for any olympics anytime soon) but ive had food poisoning really bad lost lots of muscle and mass now its a thing of the past.

Thought about joining the Raf, feel id get taught a few life basics, but id miss my girl, id miss my family.

I have harrdly any outgoings, i have a lot of disposable income every month, im bored, theres nothing to do. i feel all i do is work then come home, i wake up to breathe then go to sleep, rinse and repeat. What hobbies can i take up.

probably be ripped to shreds in GD but im serious and really would like some input, your all from various walks of life and have your different opinions, what is Tech suppor tlike ? is it a good wage ?

I feel exactly the same mate,Im 23 next week and at the moment i also dont feel like im getting anywhere...I have a job thankfully which although the wage could be better im glad i at least have one, even though its on less than you are and is soooo boring. :D

I also wanted to go into I.T,But it seems a lot of chaps our age all want to and there isnt many of these kind of jobs out there....ive applied for several and got no responce.

Yeah ive noticed theres not many jobs but they are quick to take the 3 grand for the course. im not strictly on £9 hr. I earn £7.40hr and then theres bonus so depending on how lazy i am in the week it could be £7.40 hour or £11.90 hour. You HAVE to perform to a certain level though, so if you technically earn under £8, you underperform. Theres only so much you can do with clothes, so its hella boring.

What sort of music are you making, tbh the likes of david guetta do nothing for the proper dance scene and is not someone you need to bounce off in my opinion,i know all to well how savage the music industry can be and nearly jacked it all in myself till i accepted that i probs wont ever be a big artist:( but just to go on for the love of music which at the end of the day is far more rewarding than chasing money from it.

I hate the stuff that the industry churns out especially david guetta, rihanna, katy perry etc. I make alsorts really, im a sound designer so i program samplers and synths really, but my main line of genre is soundscaping, drum and bass, dub, neurofunk, french electro, swedish house, etc i never did it for the money i got approached by suppliers wanting to sell my products for a cut so i went a head, while its paid for my pc and home studio, the demand has died down, i have a fan base but i dont have the motivation i used to have to carry on or do anything new so im a dying name really. my last product launch was late march. i should man up and carry on tbh, i always like to make music that isnt like the commercial pap you gear on the radio but is fresh and new and innovative, unfortunately unless you make "sick drops" no one cares. regardless i can make sick drops :P

Hreres the product i launched back in May ( wasnt march) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMhS5xhKyDw&feature=relmfu

Was for a commercial label so i had to aim more mainstream but i wanted to keep my nostalgic and peculiar vibe and feel and i think it worked, its dancey and commercial but has the edge of something fresh. i think. you can see my channel on there, i tend to be private on what i upload most of my projects are kept on my HDD and never opened again. i just love mashing and sampling sounds. Oh to add as well, project theadora was phsyco acoustically designed. so the soounds ( soundscapey ones) will make you feel a certain emotion or make you feel nostalgic on purpose. Do you produce man ?

Its an interesting hobby if you try and understand synthesis, its not really about what you know though, i started rom the age of 11 just playing around and its a fine art really, while you need a basic understanding of filter, low frequency osciallations and phasing of wave forms you accustom your ear to frequencies and you try and match them like a pallete of colours to craft fine piecies of art, i find what i make is dependant on the mood im in, so sometimes it can be a dark art some times it can be lush. how did they treat you on the course ? we were treated like babbys.

what flavour of dnb do you produce ? you into the likes of spor ? noisia ? would love to collab with someone would make a change haha, regarding this thread, im going to spend the whole day mangling sounds, should kep me busy and cheer me up

thanks for the input guys, i guess i just panicked a bit because 20 years had flown by, saving up and going away seems a really good idea gives me a target to lock onto and makes working a mundane job not so mundane. good idea on the synth stuf, ive thought about becoming my own label/supplier, setting up a website and selling/promoting/distributing other peoples products and taking a share, no iodea how to set one up thoug, would need server space, security, e cart etc.
