I'm just about to order the parts for a new computer but can't decide on a Gfx card, I only have a 19" WS monitor and am unlikley to upgrade that for at least a year so my res never goes above 1440 x 900. Will a 8800 GT 512MB be ok or shall i spend the extra for a 8800 GTS 512MB.

The rest of the components are Q6600, 2x2GB OCZ PC6400 RAM, 320GB HDD, Asus P35K SE Mobo.

I mainly play FPS games, CS: Source and TF2 and once i have new machine i want to play UT3 and Crysis. Appreciate any advice you have.

1440 x 900, GT will be fine, GTS is not worth the extra at that res, save some money. :)

Its actually lower than the res i use 1280x1024, and my GT hammers through everything maxed at that res, even the demanding Crapsis.

thanks for the info, am going to order the 8800GT. On a related note I plan on playing Crysis but from what i've seen i'll probably be lucky to get 35 fps, is it still playable at that?

Do you still get good visuals/gfx if you play Crysis in DX9 or is really just a DX10 game, that needs to be played in DX10 or not all kind of thing?

The graphics in DX9 still looks stunning with everything at high, but it just looks a bit better in DX10 mode. There are comparison shots available just a google search away.

I tried in DX10 and see hardly any difference, I use a cfg anyway which looks better than very high settings :).
