need new graphics card

My 8800gts PCI-E card seems to be done for. Getting vertical lines on my screen and other graphic related problems.

I need another card. I don't do much gaming these days, mostly video encoding. I just need a cheap card that'll get me by.

yeh get a 4670 or even just a 4550 or as reflux suggested a 9500GT.

Might just grab that one. I don't plan on doing any gaming. Just need something cheap untill I can go crazy and buy a card for £200+. I need more of a back up card for just now.

It's about half as powerful.

Your best bet is probably a 4670, but that's another £20 or so.

Its about half as powerful as a 9600gt and a third to a quarter as powerful as a 8800gts 512MB.

If you are not planning on doing much gaming it should be a perfectly adequate card. However, if you want to make proper use CUDA accelerated applications - you may want to look for a faster card (like a gts 250).
